"Stop Fraud" Phone App

The state auditor's office is rolling out a new iPhone app to make it easier to report fraud and government waste.

"The idea was to get an army of citizen auditors out there," said Auditor of State Dave Yost.

The app is available in the Apple App Store for free. It allows you to submit a tip, including a photo or video, to the auditor's office.

"This is by default anonymous. It's not going to tell us who you are. It will assign your complaint a unique number," Yost said. You do have the option to include your name and contact information.

Yost says the app was developed in-house and cost about $200 to do, not including the time to develop and test it. Depending on the response, an Android version could come within the next year.

A hundreds of the investigations Yost's office does are sparked by tips to their existing hotline or through their website. He hopes this app will make reporting easier.
