Chillicothe Man Arrested Following Brief Pursuit on City's East Side

A Chillicothe man was arrested early Monday morning after attempting to flee a traffic stop on the east side of Chillicothe.

According to a Chillicothe Police report, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on East Main Street near Cutright Street for a license plate violation shortly after midnight.

The vehicle failed to stop for the officer and continued to make its way along a few other area streets before stopping on Madison Avenue. The driver of the vehicle,  Jason Allen Preston, 21, then fled the vehicle heading eastbound toward Jackson Avenue. The officer gave chase on foot and was able to take Preston to the ground.

A search of Preston’s person revealed two small bags of presumed cocaine and $510.00 in cash. A search of the vehicle revealed a glass pipe; and a small amount of suspected heroin was located in the pocket of a coat found in the back seat of the vehicle.

Preston was taken into custody on charges of Driving Under Suspension, Failure to Comply, Obstructing Official Business, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Additional charges are pending analysis of the suspected drugs.
