Spring Ahead and Check Fire Detectors

At 2 a.m. this morning, Americans sprang forward and hopefully set their clocks ahead one hour.   Many clocks, like those on cell phones and computers are programmed to change automatically.

Not everyone has to worry abut setting their clocks, Hawaii and most of Arizona don't observe Daylight Saving Time.

Also, fire officials remind you to change the batteries in smoke alarms as you set your clocks forward.

They say maintaining smoke and carbon monoxide detectors is one of the easiest and most effective ways to reduce injury and death caused by fire.

Alarms should be tested monthly and you are advised to have a fire escape plan that you practice with the entire family.
