Guard Injured in Assault at Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the assault of a corrections officer at the Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility.

Records reveal the assault took place on April 6th after the guard had broken up a fight between inmates.

The head of the union representing Department of Youth Services' guards, Wilson Humphrey, says the guard may need facial reconstruction surgery due to the severity of the injuries to his nose, eye and jaw.

The 19-year-old suspect was close to being released after serving a year for robbery and theft charges out of Hamilton County but may face additional time.
