Voters Support to Berger Health Ballot Initiative

Pickaway County voters have approved a ballot initiative to change the ownership structure of Berger Health System to a "not-for-profit" organization.

A hospital statement says passage of the initiative, by an 82% margin, gives Berger the flexibility to evolve in a way that best meets the needs of the community. That could mean negotiating a lease agreement with a larger healthcare system.

Berger Health System officials stated last spring, that they have expressed interest in such an agreement with OhioHealth, if a contractual agreement could be reached.

Ohio voters are throwing their support behind crime victims while resisting an effort to slash prescription drug prices.  Issue One, also known as Marsy's Law, passed overwhelmingly yesterday, creating a "bill of rights" for crime victims and their families.  The controversial Issue Two, which would have reduced the state's prescription drug costs for prisoners, the poor and injured workers, was soundly rejected after an expensive campaign fight from both sides.
