Hunters Check 73K Deer During Ohio's Week-Long Gun Season

State officials say deer hunters bagged more of the animals this year than last during Ohio's week-long deer-gun hunting season.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says just under 73,000 deer were checked last week compared to just under 67,000 during the same period last year.

Hunters will have two more days of deer-gun season on Dec. 16 and Dec. 17.

The department says Ohio ranks fifth nationally in resident hunters and 11th in the number of jobs associated with hunting-related industries.
