Two former area high school track and field standouts are making a big impression on the Mid American Conference, at the college level.
Unioto graduate Trevor Detillion and Zane Trace grad Walt Petzel both made it to the medal stand at the MAC Track and Field Championships in Buffalo N.Y. Both athletes compete for Kent State University.
Detillion won the MAC Championship in the discus with a throw of 174' 3". Petzel placed fourth in the shot put with a personal best throw of 57'10".
In college softball, Zane Trace grad Morgan Geno and Logan Elm grad Taylor Saxton played significant roles in the Ohio University softball 2-0 MAC Championship win over Northern Illinois. The Lady Bobcats now head to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014.
