Ohio to Issue New Licenses to Meet Federal Standards

Ohioans who have received a new or renewed driver's license within the last year-and-a-half will have to return to the license bureau to get a new one before the normal four years are up.

Starting this July, the state will start rolling out new licenses that comply with federal security regulations.

When you go to the BMV, they will mail you your new license instead of handing it over to you then and there.

October 2020 is when your current license won't be enough to go through security on commercial flights in the U.S.
