A suspect was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in Fayette County.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports a 72-year-old male subject who had been identified as a suspect in an unspecified crime was approached by a Sheriff’s detective shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Rockwell Road in northern Fayette County.
The suspect displayed a firearm, but after orders to drop his weapon, he was shot and and died at the scene. Authorities have so far declined to release the man's identity.
The Ohio Bureau of Investigation was requested to the scene to initiate the investigation.
The Fayette County Coroner pronounced the subject dead.
