Award Winning Young Adult Author to Appear in Chillicothe

An award-winning author will be making an appearance in Chillicothe Wednesday evening.

Mindy McGinnis is a writer of multiple genres. Her work includes the genres of historical, mystery, fantasy, contemporary and thriller. She is a winner of an Edgar Award, presented each spring by the Mystery Writers of America for the best in mystery fiction, non-fiction, film, television and theatre.

One of McGinnis’ books, Not a Drop to Drink, was selected as a reading assignment for the newly established student book club, Pickaway Ross Pages, at Pickaway Ross Career and Technology Center for the club’s November title. The club was quite impressed with the book, and with some help from the local library, they were able to invite Ms. McGinnis to town to talk about her work to a community audience.

Not a Drop to Drink is McGinnis’ debut novel. It tells a futuristic story where water is more valuable than gold.

McGinnis will appear in the main commons area of the Pickaway Ross Career and Technology Center at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 28th. She’ll be discussing her work with fans and providing autographs. It is free and open to the public.

"The Chillicothe Ross County Library and the Pickaway County Library are co-sponsoring the event,” said Book Club Adviser Katie Hewitt. “We’ll have some representatives from both libraries on hand. Ms. McGinnis will speak for about 45 minutes to an hour about her writing process and her books, and then she’ll wrap up with an audience question and answer segment and then provide autographed copies of her books which will be available on site for purchase."
