Circleville to Purchase Barthelmas Park Expansion

Tuesday evening, Circleville Council approved taking the opportunity to expand a park.

Barthelmas Park is at the southeast corner of the town, and adjacent landowners have offered to sell to the city.

Council member Sheri Theis says the mayor has been authorized to negotiate with the Rhoads family to buy 2.224 acres to expand the park. She says the community will determine what recreation will be put in place.

It's a $300,000 purchase, and the city is applying for a $150,000 grant from the state. The Pickaway County Park District will help with part of the price whether they get the grant or not, which they should know this spring.

Theis says these opportunities don't come along often and they need to take advantage of them - and the Rhoads family has been wonderful.
