"Sandy Hook Promise" Sought for Ohio Schools

An Ohio Senator from near Cleveland wants a statewide move for all schools to adopt what's called the "Sandy Hook promise," a set of standards to prevent violence and suicide.

State Senator Gayle Manning, a North Ridgeville Republican, introduced legislation requiring training in all schools to help students and teachers pinpoint potential violence or threats of suicide.

Lee Armbruster is a principal in Manning's hometown and described when a student is told by another they're considering something drastic. She asked how you report that without feeling like you're betraying the person.

The training, The Sandy Hook Promise, would provide mental tools for students.
