Toddler Killed After Wandering Into Traffic Along U.S. 50 in Ross County

A two-year-old was killed late Wednesday morning after wandering into traffic along U.S. 50, just outside Chillicothe.

According to the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Darrell R. Ankrom, 69, of Washington CH, was eastbound along U.S. 50 on a 2015 tri-wheeled Harley Davidson shortly before 12:00 p.m. when he struck a 2-year-old male juvenile as the child ran onto the roadway and into the path of Mr. Ankrom's trike.

The collision occurred between State Route 28 and Veterans Parkway.

The unidentified boy was taken to Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe where he succumbed to his injuries. Mr. Ankrom was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

Union Township, Scioto Township, Portsmouth Ambulance and Union Township Fire assisted at the scene.
