Ross Park District Seeks Help Running Egypt Pike Park Location

A qualified 501(c)(3) organization is being sought to handle the management and operation of the Ross County Park, located on Egypt Pike.

.

"The county leases that property out, and have for probably about twenty years," said Ross County Park District Outdoor Educator Miranda Vance. "The park district controls it, but we lease it out to managers who utilize the field and set up schedules, and they do 100-percent of the maintenance."

.

The Ross County Park offers playing fields for baseball and other sports for the youth of Ross County, and Miranda says the park district wants to make sure they ensure an equal opportunity for use of the park.

.

"People had complained in years past that they had not had an equal opportunity to use the field," said Vance. "So we're just going in and reviewing what's been going on and change the contract a little bit, and that sort of thing. So they felt it was only fair at this point to open it back up to the public."

.

Any non-profit looking to take over the park's management responsibilities must be a qualified 501(c)(3).

.

They have to be a 501(c)(3) or have one as their head, because some of the baseball clubs are not 501(c)(3)," said Vance. "They will be asked to submit a detailed proposal outlining what ideas they have and how they're going to run the park, the insurance they’ll provide, and the costs related. Once the applications have been turned in and reviewed, we'll go through them to see which ones meet the qualifications."

.

The management term for the Ross County Park begins on January 1st of 2020, and applications by interested organizations are due by October 30th, 2019. Please contact the Ross County Park District at (740) 773-8794 or send them an email to parksandpreserves@rosscountyohio.gov for more information.
