Car-Tanker Truck Collision

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle minor injury crash involving a commercial tanker that occurred on US Route 35 at State Route 32 Tuesday night.

A semi truck pulling a tanker containing 8,000 gallons of ethanol being driven by Robert C. Clay of Ashland, Kentucky was traveling eastbound on US 35. A car driven by a 16-year-old female had stopped at the stop sign at the end of the ramp from SR 32 eastbound to US 35. The driver of the Mazda failed to yield to traffic on US 35 and proceeded from the stop sign into the path of the truck driven by Clay.

The truck struck the Mazda which caused the truck to overturn and the tanker became detached from the power unit. The tanker was breached.

US 35 was closed for a lengthy period to allow for the hazardous material to be addressed.
