Zane Trace 18-3 Fourth Quarter Run Closes Adena's Upset Hopes

Zane Trace outscored Adena 18-5 in the fourth quarter, including an 18-3 finish for a 54-41 win at Frankfort, to remain tied with Unioto for the SVC lead with one game to play. The Shermans dodged an upset with a 61-56 win against Southeastern.

In a game that see-sawed back and forth most of the first three quarters, the Pioneers led 15-13 after the first quarter, but Adena held a 24-20 halftime advantage. After three, the teams were tied 36-36. The Warriors scored first in the fourth quarter for a 38-36 lead, but Zane Trace came to life and closed on an 18-3 run for the win.

The Pioneers rebounding advantage was glaring, 37-20 with 13 of their boards on the offensive end. On one possession, ZT had five offensive rebounds to convert on a big basket.

Zane Trace shot 23/51 from the field for 45%- including 8/13 from behind the arc and were 7/12 at the foul line. ZT only had 3 turnovers. Adena was 15/41 for 37%- including 4/19 from the arc and 6/10 from the foul line. The Warriors committed 5 turnovers.

The Pioneers were led by Cameron Evans' 27 points, while Nick Nesser had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Luke Johnson added 6, Colby Swain 4 and Bryce Johnson 2.

The Warriors were led by Logan Bennett with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Nate Throckmorton ad Preston Sykes each had 8 points, 3 from Cade McKee and 2 from Dillon McDonald.

Zane Trace, like Unioto, improves to (12-1/17-3) and Adena slips to (7-5/11-8).
