Circleville One Step Away From State Final 4

The state top ranked and unbeaten Circleville Lady Tigers keep marching on in their quest for a state title and are now one win away from the State Final Four, after thumping Lakewood 61-41 in the Division 2 Girls Basketball Regional Semis in Zanesville.

Circleville grabbed a 13-8 lead by the 3:28 mark of the first quarter, and then their offense caught fire in the closing minutes of the period to take a 24-11 lead after one. The Lady Tigers stayed on pace for a 40-23 advantage at halftime.

Nothing changed in the third period, with Circleville maintaining their 17 point lead after three at 50-33. The Lady Tigers led by as many as 22, before settling for a 61-41 victory.

6'0 junior Kenzie McConnell and 6'1 senior Meghan Davis accounted for 41 of Circleville's 61 points. McConnell led the way with 27 points and Davis added 14 points.

Circleville will face the Dresden Tri Valley in the Elite 8, at 7pm Friday at Zanesville High School. They rallied from an 8 point deficit to beat Sheridan 50-48.

The winner of the regional title game will be bound for the state tournament at OSU's Saint John Arena, where the girls state tournament returns this season- due to scheduling conflicts at The Schottenstein Center.
