Goodwill Breaks Ground on New Office and Training Center on Western Avenue

By the end of this year, Goodwill of South Central Ohio plans to open new offices and an Activities and Training Center next to the soon-to-open new store on Western Avenue in Chillicothe.

The 10,000 square-foot facility will be home to the workforce development department and administrative functions while the center will serve our participants with developmental disabilities in our center located in our Shawnee Square store.

“We are excited about this project as it gives us more opportunities to serve not only this community, but also support operations in our seven other counties,” said CEO Marvin Jones. “Our workforce department continues to grow and these new offices will have meeting and conference rooms that also will be available to other organizations in the community. The activities center will be a major upgrade for our participants with disabilities, complete with kitchen and laundry areas.”

The new building will be located between the new Goodwill store and Knisley Pharmacy. The offices will be about 6,450 square feet and the activities center about 3,600 square feet. A&T Property LLC of Jackson is the main contractor for the $1.8 million project. A&T Property LLC also built and leased new stores to Goodwill in Jackson and Athens in 2018 and is building and will lease the new store on Western Avenue.

Kingston National Bank is providing financing to Goodwill for the project. Combined, about 60 employees and participants will move into the new building from the current offices in the Foulke Block and the Shawnee Square center. Completion is expected by the end of November.
