Ashville Food Pantry Looking To Expand With New Building Project

The Ashville Food Pantry, which began in 1986, is looking to expand through a building project.

The pantry is an official ministry of and occupies facilities of the First English Lutheran Church, 94 Long Street, Ashville Ohio in cooperation with area churches, serving the Teays Valley School District.

Thecela Acord is the coordinator for the Ashville Food Pantry and says the new building would be a 3,000 square feet structure that will give them more storage space, be handicap accessible and offer off street parking for their clients, who are permitted to come in once per month.

All the food they distribute is donated from the community.

Acord says their over 65 population has been their highest client count each month during the COVID pandemic, and that number continues to grow.

They are seeking a goal of $200,000 and won't begin on the project until they have raised their funding.
