Local Summer Events Happening this Weekend

A few events are happening this weekend:

The Chillicothe Farmer's Market continues its growing-season schedule of 8am to noon Saturdays at the Ross County Service Center on Western Avenue.

Regular ranger-guided programs and tours are available at the Mound City unit of Hopewell Culture National Historical Park. Tours are 10am or 3:30pm Saturdays, with a ranger program at 1:30pm.

The annual gathering of the group who maintains the birthplace of Chillicothe's First Lady will include a retired Army ranger, veterans coordinator, and former high schools history teacher as speaker this afternoon.

After the brief business meeting, Bob Leach will speak on his effort to compose a book of one-page biographies on every Ross County veteran who died in American wars in the 20th and 21st century.

The 2pm event is free and the public is welcome at the Lucy Hayes Heritage Center at 90 West 6th Street in Chillicothe.

The next concert of the Renaissance Singers, “The Rennies’ Greatest Hits,” will 2pm Sunday on the grounds of First Presbyterian Church in Chillicothe.

A selection of their favorites from years past will include fiddles, clarinet, trombone, percussion, piccolo, and even spoons. Bring a lawn chair to spend a lazy afternoon with them.
