Pike County Sheriff Sustains Non-Life Threatening Injuries in US 23 Crash

Pike County Sheriff Tracy Evans was taken to an area hospital on Tuesday as the result of a traffic collision the occurred while the Sheriff was responding to an emergency call.

According to a release from the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Sheriff Evans had been driving a 2014 Dodge Charger southbound on US 23 with his lights and siren activated when he collided with a mini-van that had failed to yield right of way while making a turn left turn from Zebulon Street onto US 23.

The crash took place shortly before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Sheriff Evans was transported from the scene by MedCare EMS to Adena Pike Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released from the hospital.

The driver of the 2017 Chrysler mini-van, Barbara E. Beekman, of Lucasville, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated at the scene.
