Chillicothe Purple Heart Monument Dedication Scheduled for November 11

Chillicothe's Purple Heart committee would like to announce that the Purple Heart Monument Dedication ceremony will be held on Veteran’s Day, November 11th at 1:00 p.m.

The dedication ceremony will take place at the Veterans Memorial Park on the corner of Park and Chestnut Streets where the monument will be located. The community is welcome and encouraged to attend the ceremony.

The ceremony will offer a short program that will include the Honor Guard and presentation of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Additionally, there will be guest speakers including Chillicothe’s Mayor, Luke Feeney; Purple Heart Committee Chairperson, Melody Lapczynski; and Ben Daughters, local Purple Heart recipient.

Gerry Palmer, President of the Ross County Veterans Council, will serve as Master of Ceremony during the event.

The Purple Heart Committee would like to thank donors who made this monument possible, and a special thank you to the Ross County Veterans Council and the City of Chillicothe. Most importantly, the committee would like to thank veterans for their service.
