Woman Arrested For Sending Synthetic Drugs To Southern Ohio Prisoners

A South African woman faces drug smuggling charges for allegedly sending synthetic drugs to southern Ohio prison inmates.

Police say 46-year-old Tanya Baird was arrested yesterday at John Glenn International Airport in Columbus for a scheme involving dousing legal documents in synthetic drugs and mailing them to Ohio prisons. Officials say Baird mailed almost three dozen packages to the Lucasville Correctional Facility in Southern Ohio.

Baird is charged with importing controlled substances and, if convicted, could face 20-years in prison.
