Lawmakers pass gun bill

A bill relaxing restrictions on arming teachers and school staff is now on its way to Governor DeWine's desk. House Bill 99 passed through both the Ohio House and Senate yesterday. If approved by DeWine, and the governor has indicated he will sign it, the law would allow employees at Ohio schools to carry weapons after 24 hours of firearms training. Current regulations require a seven-hundred-37-hour peace officer training program.
