New Concord John Glenn Drills Unioto in Regional Semi

All the accolades of an SVC record season by Unioto appeared to mean nothing to the John Glenn Little Muskies Thursday night, as they pounded the Shermans 65-29 in the Division 2 Regional Semis at th Convo.

John Glenn blew out of the gates for a 15-0 lead and continued to build upon that lead throughout the game, to where they led by more than 35 points late in the contest. Unioto was held to 6 points in each of the first three quarters, before marking up 11 points in the final quarter. JG led 20-6 after one period, 39-12 at half, and 51-18 after three. When the margin got to 35 points in the fourth period, the "continuous clock rule" went into effect and stayed on the rest of the contest.

While John Glenn was enjoying one of their best shooting efforts of the season, Unioto was having probably their worst game of the season. The Little Muskies shot 21/36 for 58%- including 9/16 from the arc and 14/19 from the foul line. The Shermans were 11/38 from the field for only 29%- including 4/19 from the arc and 3/7 from the charity stripe.

The rebounding story was just as bad, with John Glenn controlling the glass 33-15. The Shermans grabbed only 3 rebounds in the first half.

Shane Bonner led JG with 16 points followed by Sam Kumler with 11, one other player with 9 and two others with 8. Unioto saw Logan Swackhammer score 11 and Peyton Hill had 5. Brandon Kennedy, Cade McKee and Cameron Debord each scored 3 points, while Gabe Fisher and Gabe McBee had 2.

(21-4) John Glenn will face (21-6) Byesville Meadowbrook in the regional final Saturday afternoon, as the Colts upset Fairland 60-57.

Unioto ends their season with a record of (22-3), SVC Gold Ball Champs and winners of 69 straight SVC games. The Shermans graduate 6 players off this season's team.
