Student Arrested after Threat to Waverly Football Game

A Waverly student is facing felony charges after allegedly making threats toward tonight's football game.

According to Waverly Schools Superintendent Ed Dickens in a pre-recorded phone announcement, the homecoming game against Nelsonville-York was threatened, and the student is in custody.

He is enrolled in the Waverly school district but is not currently attending school there.  He was on juvenile probation and was taken into custody without incident.

According to the Pike County Sheriff's Office, the student was charged with inducing panic and terroristic threats and is in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center in Ross County.

Authorities assure there is no longer a threat to the Waverly game, but there will be additional security there.
