The Department of Energy has extended its contract with Fluor-BWXT at Piketon.
The DOE has committed another 850 million dollars to extend the decontamination and decommissioning project for another 30 months. The contract was set to expire Sunday.
A DOE statement says the extension was the most cost-effective and best alternative.
