Huntington held only one lead in the game at 2-0, then saw Zane Trace score 9 unanswered points and never trailed the rest of the way in a 74-51 win against the Huntsmen, Friday at ZTHS.
The Pioneers led at the end of each stop; 18-8, 4-22, 58-37 and 74-51. Huntington cut a 21 point second quarter deficit to 34-22, but saw repeated turnovers give ZT the next 6 points for the 40-22 halftime lead.
Zane Trace shot 23-58 from the field for 52%- including 4/12 from the arc. They were also 10/12 at the foul line.
Huntington was 19/46 from the field for 41%- including 6/18 from the arc and 7/8 from the charity stripe.
Zane Trace score many times off the Huntsmen' 24 turnovers, where ZT only committed 8. The Pioneers also controlled the rebounding 27-19.
ZT had three players in double figures- led by Cam Evans' 22 points. Then came Nick Nesser's 12 and a double-double from Luke Johnson with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Colby Swain added 8 points and 7 each from Triton Davidson and Chad Ison. Bryce Johnson had 5 and Caden Fry 2.
Huntington was led by Elijah McCloskey's 19 points, Seth Beelr 11, 5 from D.J. Kinzer, 4 from Andrew Cox, 3 each from Jonathan Fisher and Canaan Knwoles and 2 each from Nick Gaines and nate Snyder.
Zane Trace remains in a tie for the SVC lead wit Adena at (3-0) as the Warriors beat Westfall 51-28. ZT is (4-1) overall. Huntington falls to (0-3/0-5).
