The railroad company that runs through Circleville wants to close some crossings. Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks cross many streets, and has made a request of the city. City Council President David Crawford explains that the railroad wants to eliminate some risks, and the city has proposed four street crossings to close off.
A public hearing on this will be 6pm, Tuesday, January 15th. Crawford says the public does need to be there in person to learn more or to comment. He says they are welcome to write letters to council. They can also learn more on the the city's website.
The railroad has run through Circleville since about 1876, but there is no overpass in the town like there is in Chillicothe.
