Women's Wave to Roll Through Chillicothe on Saturday

The women’s wave rolls through downtown Chillicothe this Saturday for the national 2019 Women’s March.

Event organizer, Beth Workman, says this will be the second time the city participates in the march. The first took place in 2017 but after skipping 2018, it's being brought back for 2019.

Beth says it's all about the fair treatment of woman in our society.

"It's all about women's rights," said Workman. "Civil rights, equal rights, just equality in general."

Those participating in Saturday's march should gather at the Ross County Courthouse at 10:00 a.m., where they’ll be treated to hot beverages and music. Materials will also be available for those that would like to make a sign to carry while marching.

From the courthouse, marchers then make their way north along Paint Street to Yoctangee Park, where they’ll find a bake sale and a variety of speakers and community resource information.

"We have a lot of people coming in for this," said Workman. "We'll have people here talking about ERA, education, economic justice, women in business, violence in domestic relations, women in the workplace, women's health, women in poverty, and more."

There are cold temperatures for the forecast Saturday so those who participate in the march will want to dress warmly.
