The Ross County Commissoners are clarifying what happened in a story we released Monday concerning the current renovation project at the Ross County Law Enforcement Complex. Commissioner Doug Corcoran says Palmetto Construction Company was "not removed from the job", but instead the company "walked away or voluntarily defaulted the project".
-
Corcoran admits the county had been "seeing problems" on what work had been done thus far when the project was not progressing in the first few months.
-
He also is hoping they won't have to rebid the project, but that is yet to be seen.
-
The construction project is $5.7 million. The $8.7 million figure we originally released from an earlier press release was what the project would have been, if the county had gone with the bigger project option.
-
Corcoran says thus far, Ross County has paid-out $1 million for work that has been done. He added it still is to be determined if any of the work already done by Palmetto will have to be redone.
