A former Ross County Commissioner and long-time member of the local business community is on the mend after being accidentally injured in an incident with a farm animal.
-
Frank Hirsch, operator of Hirsch's Fruit Farm, was knocked over by a 4-H steer while working on the farm. Family member Steve Hirsch says Frank suffered some fractures, cuts and bruises in the incident. Steve says the calf was "docile and probably was as frightened as dad was".
-
He said the 78-year-old Hirsch got too close to the calf, which was tied up in a pen, causing the calf to knock over Mr. Hirsch when the animal was apparently “frightened”.
-
The senior Hirsch is expected to make a full recovery but he could remain hospitalized for the next week or two.
