A Chillicothe native has been tapped to fill the role of Hillsboro Police Chief following last week’s resignation of former Chief Darrin Goudy.

According to a release Tuesday, Eric Daniels has been selected to serve as interim Chief. Daniels was hired by the City in 1997 as a patrol officer, and has served as Hillsboro Systems Administrator since 2005.

He holds an Associates degree in Law Enforcement Technology and a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, and earned a Master’s degree in Computer information Systems. Daniels is also six year veteran of the U.S.Marine Corps, having served in the Persian Gulf.

Daniels takes over for former Hillsboro Police Chief Darrin Goudy, who resigned last Friday after being placed on administrative leave. City and police department officials have so far declined to provide a reason for Goudy’s sudden leave assignment, or his ultimate departure.
