Ross Grand Jury Indicts Two for Domestic Violence, Prohibited Weapons

-

The Ross County Grand Jury was presented with 17 cases during its Friday session. Jurors returned all 17 but only 2 were open to the public.

-

Dustin E. Mace, 34, of South Salem, has been indicted on single third-degree felony charge of Domestic Violence. The third-degree status is the result of two prior convictions against Mr. Mace in Ross County Common Pleas Court, one from 2009 and another from 2016.

-

According to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office, the original offense took place on February 24th when Ross County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a Keran Street, South Salem address.

-

On arrival at the scene, investigating deputies were informed by the victim, Mr. Mace’s mother, that she had been assaulted by her son after she caught him rooting through some of her personal items inside their shared home. An argument between the two ensued and Mr. Mace is alleged to have pushed his mother down in a hallway of the home, grabbing her by the throat and choking her, at one point lifting her off the ground by her neck.

-

Deputies noted bruises and red marks around the victim’s throat, but no serious physical harm.

-

Mr. Mace is said to have fled the scene following the assault but was later apprehended on March 6th.

-

If convicted Mr. Mace faces a possible sentence of up to five years incarceration and a fine of $10,000.

-

Eric T. Lett, 40, of Chillicothe, has been indicted on a single charge of third-degree felony Possession of Weapons While Under Disability. The third-degree status of Lett’s charge is due to him having two prior convictions for drug trafficking in cocaine, one from 2004, and one from 2007.

-

Mr. Lett's original arrest took place when Chillicothe Police conducted a search warrant at Mr. Lett’s address at 148.5 Hirn Street on February 26th and found him sitting on a couch within the home. After securing the home, officers discovered Lett was sitting on a loaded .38 caliber Rohm Gesellschaft (RG) revolver, hidden underneath the couch cushion.

-

If found guilty of the charge, Mr. Lett could be sentenced to up to 5 years in prison, with a fine $10,000 fine.

-

The Ross County Grand Jury will meet for its next session on Friday, April 26th.
