Some Pike County residents got a bit of a scare Sunday night when a county sheriff alert was texted, stating a tornado had been seen in the Lake White area.

A photo of what appears to be a funnel cloud, might have actually been a "scud cloud". A scud cloud is caused by cold air outflow interacting with warmth ahead of the storm. This causes air to rise and condense.

(24/7 News) -- Officials say they are trying to determine what happened when a tornado shelter in Delaware County failed to open during a storm warning on Saturday.

According to reports, the shelter at Delaware State Park remained locked despite warnings from the National Weather Service. Witnesses say over 100 people lined up at the shelter to seek safety, but the doors never opened.

Authorities with the State Parks Service say the shelter malfunctioned and they are investigating the incident.
