Pickaway, Hocking Among Ten Ohio Counties to Receive Disaster Assistance

Ten Ohio counties are set to receive federal assistance for residents impacted by the series of tornadoes that struck over the Memorial Day weekend.

President Donald Trump issued a Disaster Declaration on Tuesday, at the request of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, after a series of tornadoes touched down throughout western and central Ohio on May 27th and 28th.

The ten counties approved for federal assistance are Pickaway, Hocking, Greene, Auglaize, Darke, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Muskingum and Perry.

A preliminary damage assessment conducted by both federal and state agencies identified a total 942 homes and buildings in these counties have either been destroyed or significantly damaged during the storms.
