The organizers of an area summer camp for kids are putting out a call to the community for help after recent rains left their Rocky Fork campground a muddy mess.

The organization known as S.A.T.H. (Supplemental Assistance to the Handicapped) is currently holding it’s Kamp Dovetail summer camp at Rocky Fork State Park, but S.A.T.H. Director, Linda Allen, says all the mud, churned up by recent rains, are putting a damper on camp activities.

"Where all of our tents are at it has poured down rain since last week," said Allen. "The kids have mud up over their ankles, they've ruined all their shoes, and they're going barefoot. And after three or four days of this mud, it smells like something pigs would waller in."

Allen says they’re looking for large donations of either woodchips or sawdust that they can use to spread around one-half acre of land to help dry things out.

"We've got a skid spreader and we've got shovels," said Allen. "The employees will put it down and spread it, we just don't have anything to put down, and we're really desperate."

Allen says anyone that has a large amount of wood chips or sawdust that can be donated to the camp should contact S.A.T.H. organizers at 937-661-0045 to make arrangements.
