A Pickaway County man will serve 6 years in prison after pleading no contest in a case of obscenity involving a minor and importuning.

Christopher Bartholomew, 26, of Circleville, was sentenced to 6 years behind bars by Pickaway County Common Pleas Judge Randall Knece on Wednesday. The sentence also carries 5 years of community control following his release, and he will be required to register as a Tier II sex offender for a period of 25 years.

The case against Mr. Bartholomew began in January of this year when he was caught attempting to pick up an underage Circleville Middle School student, without parental permission. He was subsequently charged with criminal child enticement. Evidence gathered from Mr. Bartholomew’s cell phone during a follow-up investigation revealed he had intended to engage in a sexual relationship with the juvenile. Investigators also obtained several images of child pornography from the device.

Mr. Bartholomew was later charged with 6 counts of fourth-degree felony pandering obscenity involving a minor, and a single fifth-degree count of felony importuning.
