A Circleville man is facing multiple criminal charges following a non-injury involved shooting that took place on Friday.

In a press release issued late Friday afternoon, Circleville Police said officers responded to report of gunfire in the area of West Ohio Street on Friday afternoon, after receiving multiple reports from residents. Witnesses at the scene informed investigating officers that a man had been seen chasing after a vehicle on foot along West Ohio Street, while firing shots from a gun at the moving car.

The man, identified as Christopher Rogers, is reported to have fled inside his 121 West Ohio Street apartment, barricading himself inside, when officers attempted to question him about the incident. Officers were able to conduct a cell phone conversation with Mr. Rogers, but he refused to exit the apartment, saying he refused to go back to jail. A Chillicothe SWAT team was then called to scene to assist, but Mr. Rogers capitulated and agreed to exit his apartment without further incident prior to SWAT’s arrival.

While on scene, officers observed that Mr. Rogers’ vehicle had been shot at in several places, and Mr. Rogers himself alluded to officers that there were multiple people that had shot at his vehicle.

Mr. Rogers was ultimately placed under arrest for his involvement in the incident. He’s been charged with third-degree felony counts of tampering with evidence, possession of weapons under disability, and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises. He also faces a fifth-degree felony count of obstruction.

A female at the scene, identified as Kelsey Jenkins, was additionally charged with false statements made to police. She faces a fifth-degree felony charge of obstruction for allegedly lying to investigators.

Mr. Rogers has since been released on bond, and the incident continues to be investigation by the Circleville Police Department.
