Trailing 2-1 in the sixth inning, Chillicothe's Trey Smith belted a 2-out grand slam for the margin of victory that would hold up for the title win. Chris Eisel also hit a home run in the game.

The Paints dropped Game 1 of the series, 6-3, then rallied to take Game 2 by a score of 9-4 and the title Game 3 by a 5-2 count.

After starting the season at (2-7), the Paints went on a (41-14) tear to get into the East Division title game, which they beat Danville, before winning the Prospect League Championship Series (2-1) over Cape.
