More details have been released in the crime spree from Adams County to where the suspect killed himself in Pike County this morning.
Possibly three people are dead in a crime spree that went from Adams County to where the suspect killed himself in Pike County, Friday morning.
The Ohio Attorney General, Highway Patrol, and other law enforcement report 44-year-old Brandon Carter of Seaman was involved in several incidents in the Adams County village. His residence had been set on fire where human remains were located and which are pending identification.
About 7am Carter attempted to abduct a female clerk from the Marathon gas station at State Route 32 and 247, when a delivery truck driver was shot and killed. Carter fled the scene to rob the 1st Stop Gas Station in Seaman.
The woman sustained a gunshot wound but remains in stable condition.
The suspect fled into Pike County, where stop sticks failed to stop the suspect's 1999 Dodge Dakota near Tennyson Road and again near Shyville Road. Carter tried to hit troopers as they deployed the stop sticks.
But at 8:02am, near Beaver Pike, Carter's truck swerved across the opposite lanes of State Route 32 and ended up in a ravine...and the suspect was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Westbound SR 32 reopened there only about 5pm.
The incident remains under investigation, and further details are expected.
Following the robbery, North Adams High and Elementary schools and Peebles High and Elementary schools went to lockdown, which was later lifted.
