(24/7 News) -- Ohio's hourly minimum wage is about to rise again, with the rate going up by 15 cents an hour on January 1st from $8.55 to $8.70.

Workers who receive tips will get a wage increase from $4.30 per hour to $4.35. Ohio voters approved the annual adjustments in a 2006 constitutional amendment.

The federal wage rate of $7.25 an hour will remain in effect next year.

The increase applies to employees of businesses with annual gross receipts of more than $319,000 per year.
