A Super 'Snow Moon' Lights the Sky this Weekend

The "Snow Moon" will light up the night sky this weekend. The Farmers' Almanac says northeastern Native Americans call the second full moon of winter the Snow Moon because of February's heavy snow.

Experts say it will also be a supermoon, which occurs when the moon is at the closest point to earth in its orbit.

The "super" Snow Moon will also signal the start of Jewish celebrations known as "New Year of the Trees," and will signify the end of Chinese New Year celebrations.
