The all-time scoring leader at Southeastern High School has made a change in schools to play women's college basketball. Ella Skeens is now a member of the Ball State University Cardinals program after spending two years at the University of Dayton.
Skeens appeared in 17 games as a sophomore with the Lady Flyers and helped them to a (25-8) record overall and an Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship, before their 2020 NCAA Tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Skeens becomes the second player on the Cardinals' current roster from Chillicothe, joining senior forward Osh Brown, a graduate of Chillicothe High School.
BSU head coach Brady Sallee had the following statement about Skeens; "We are thrilled to finally see Ella as a part of our program. We really wanted her out of high school, but things happen for a reason and now she is a Cardinal. Ella brings an extremely high level of competitiveness to our program. She is a big, strong guard that can score at all three levels and I look forward to using her versatility in our system."
In high school, Skeens was a four-time SVC "Player of the Year" and was a two-time District "Player of the Year" and named First Team All Ohio- twice.
