Dewine Keeps School Classes Closed for Remainder of 2019-20 Academic Year

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine says K-12 schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year. The governor added that no decision has been made about the fall startup for the 2020-21 academic year.

Students are expected to continue doing online school work for the rest of the current school year.

The governor added; " I have concerns about particular groups of kids who aren't able to physically be in school. Children with special developmental needs. Children w/ health challenges: We must figure out how to protect kids with unique health challenges. Kids with no or limited access to the internet and children who do not have a supportive home lives."

In a related note, as a result of this decision, the Ohio High School Athletic Association will be cancelling the spring sports season for 2019-20, as they said they would, if the governor decided to keep schools closed.
