Area law enforcement recently conducted a multi-agency detail to reduce violent crime and drug overdoses within Ross County and in the City of Chillicothe.
The enforcement detail was carried out by the Chillicothe Police Department along with the Ross County Sheriff's Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Chillicothe Municipal Court Probation, Circleville Police Department, Circleville Probation and the Ross County Probation Department.
In a release on Friday, May 1st Chillicothe Police Captain Ron Meyers said the enforcement detail was in response to citizen complaints.
During the detail officers conducted thirty traffic stops, served four search warrants and made a total of 27 arrests with the apprehended suspects facing various charges including drug possession as well as warrant and traffic offenses.
Search warrants were also executed at residences located at 319 East 4th Street, 314 East 5th Street, 376 McKellar Street and 204 Hirn Street.
The searches resulted in a seizure of 47 grams of heroin & fentanyl, 16 grams of methamphetamine, 9 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of marijuana and 35 doses of illegal prescription pills. They also resulted in the seizure of $1,700 in cash.
The identities of those charged during the enforcement detail were not provided in Friday’s release.
In addition, probation officers, police officers and deputies performed 19 checks of probationers’ residences to insure compliance with terms of their probation.
