Saturday Ohio COVID-19 Updates

(24/7 News Source) - Coronavirus numbers in Ohio continue to rise. The latest figures show there are nearly twenty-seven-thousand confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19 in the state, an increase of close to six-hundred cases. The number of hospitalizations has risen to more than forty-seven-hundred, while the death toll stands at one-thousand-five-hundred-and-eighty-one. Governor Mike DeWine and Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton will resume their updates Monday afternoon.

Saturday marked a reopening milestone for Ohio businesses. Diners can resume eating at area restaurants as long as they are seated outdoors and follow strict guidelines. Hair salons, barber shops and tattoo parlors have also begun seeing clients again, along with non-essential retail shops. Governor DeWine says they account for about 90-percent of the state's economy.

Two state lawmakers want all Ohio businesses to reopen immediately. State Senators Kristina Roegner and Rob McCoy are cosponsoring a bill that would repeal Governor DeWine's "Stay Safe Ohio" order. The Republicans say that since Ohioans have "flattened the curve" when it comes to Coronavirus, it's essential that everyone get back to work to restore the state's economy.
