(24/7 Sports) -- Ohio State All-American and former Chillicothe Paints catcher Dillion Dingler is heading to the Motor City after being selected by Detroit in the MLB Draft.
The Tigers grabbed Dingler in the first slot of the second-round and the 38th pick overall. Dingler was expected to go on day one in the first-round, and his slide into the second baffled some draft experts who blamed scouts ignoring his talent because he didn't play in the Cape Cod summer league or the SEC.
During the shortened season, Dingler was tied for the Big Ten lead with five home runs while batting 340 with 14 RBIs and four doubles.
