United Way of Ross County will take to its Facebook page on September 13, 2020, to kick-off its annual campaign. United Way of Ross County CEO Rick Smith said the pandemic has caused them to try a different way of gaining funding: a Facebook live event.
"Our typical fundraising model is to go into a business and do a presentation and ask employees to participate in workforce giving campaigns through payroll deduction," said Smith. "While we still plan on doing some of that virtually, we can't do it like we normally would."
The 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Facebook live event will be broadcast from the Majestic Theatre, which will have a phone bank set up to take pledge calls. The program will start with local pastors sharing inspirational messages, followed by special guests and musical entertainment.
