The Adena Lady Warriors closed their opening round of SVC play with a 31-25 win at Southeastern, handing the Lady Panthers their second conference loss.
Defense stole the show as both offenses were shut down for most of the game.
Adena shot 12/32 for 38%- including 2/8 from the arc while Southeastern was only 8/45 for 18%- including 1/12 from the arc. The Lady Warriors were 5/8 from the foul line and SE was 8/11.
The Lady Warriors edged Southeastern on the glass with a 26-22 rebounding advantage, but the Lady Panthers forced 17 Adena turnovers while they only committed 7 with 6 in the second half.
Adena was led by sophomore post-player Sydney Foglesong's 9 points and 10 rebounds, Jadyn Smith added 8 points, freshman Kiera Williams 5 points, freshman Emma Garrison had 4 points and 7 rebounds, while Makenna Lovely added 3 and Makaela Lovely 2 points.
Southeastern senior Macie Graves led all players with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Gabby Pernell scored 6, Cidney Huff contributed 4 points and 6 rebounds and Audrey Scott had one point.
Adena improves to (7-0/10-2) while Southeastern slips to (4-2/5-5).
